Recipe for a marathon which does not leave you sore!

This week-end was very special. Not only we had a snow fall like we had not have since the beginning of this bizarre winter (at least 7 inches on the ground, entre 20 et 25 centimètres), but also a couple of friends, Eric and I sat down comfortably (or at least as much as possible) and watched the extented versions of all three Lord of the Rings movies one after the other. This adventure lasted a good 12 hours plus pauses because unlike in a movie theater… we had pauses!
That was a long time to be seating down… but really worth it. I never watched all three movies together like that before and really, the storytelling makes more sense and details are more present and vivid in the mind.
When you have a snowy winter day and not much to do, I strongly recommend this kind of entertainment… Also, doing a movie marathon is great excuse to curl under a nice warm blanky and sip a cup of hot chocolate!

A Lord of the Rings Ass-Numb-a-Thon sounds to me like the best possible way to spend a snowy Saturday afternoon. I’m sorry to have missed it! :-) Hopefully next time (assuming there is a next time), Sara and I will be able to join you.
Believe me, there will be a next time!... and you will hear about it.
Next time? My sitting muscles get sore just thinking about it. :-) Still, it was tons of fun.
We also have a box set of the Matrix, the last two movies of which almost certainly benefit from being watched back-to-back.
Hmm. I saw the first two Matrix movies, but I never did get around to seeing the third. After talking to a couple of friends who did see it, I’m not so sure I ought to.
On the other hand, I can put up with almost any degree of badness in a movie if the company’s good enough. :-)
We will probably try to do the Matrix “half-marathon” (compared to LOR) sometime in April.
Yeah, the second two Matrix movies aren’t as good as the first, but they seem to work better when shown close together.
Certainly nothing that you couldn’t survive with some good drinks and the occasional snide remark. ;-)
